Privacy Policy — CatchLog

Last updated: 10 September 2026 · Applies to CatchLog Trial - fishing tracker v1.0.0 and CatchLog - fishing tracker v1.0.0.

This policy applies to both CatchLog Garmin Connect IQ listings. The editions use the same fishing-log features and privacy design while the Trial is active. The Trial additionally stores its local access state. Other BIKINTULIS apps have their own privacy policies.

1. Who we are

BIKINTULIS is an independent Garmin Connect IQ developer based in Germany. For privacy questions or requests, use the contact form.

2. Summary in plain language

  • CatchLog has no account, CatchLog server, feed, public spot discovery, advertising or analytics.
  • Your private catch and spot-history database stays in CatchLog's local storage on the watch.
  • When you record a fishing session, the resulting Garmin FIT activity and catch laps can sync through your normal Garmin Connect settings.
  • GPS, heart rate, pressure and available fishing conditions are used only for the functions you activate on the watch.
  • CatchLog does not send your catch locations or fishing history to BIKINTULIS.

3. Permissions and why they are requested

  • Positioning — obtains the GPS track and a fresh position when you save a catch or navigate to a saved location.
  • FIT and FitContributor — records the fishing activity, catch laps and custom fishing fields in your Garmin ecosystem.
  • Sensor and SensorHistory — reads supported heart-rate and barometric-pressure information for the activity, live trend and saved catch conditions.
  • PersistedContent — saves local catch waypoints that you can reopen or navigate to.
  • Background — checks the local pressure history when the optional pressure alert is enabled.
  • Notifications — shows an optional pressure-shift alert on compatible watches and firmware.

CatchLog requests no Communications permission and contains no CatchLog networking or server-sync feature.

4. Data stored locally on the watch

Depending on what is available and what you enter, CatchLog stores:

  • up to approximately 500 recent catches in a rolling local history;
  • catch position, time, species, size, bait and pressure;
  • available weather, air temperature, humidity, wind, moon phase and water-temperature values saved with the catch;
  • saved local waypoints and recent-session summaries;
  • species, bait, units, size-step, spot-radius, season, pressure-alert and display preferences;
  • for CatchLog Trial only: first-launch time and expired state.

This information is used only to run CatchLog, display your history and Spot Memory, restore settings, and provide local navigation, glance and pressure-alert features.

5. Garmin activities and Garmin Connect

Starting a fishing session creates a Garmin FIT activity when positioning and activity recording are available. The activity can contain GPS track, duration, heart rate, catch laps and custom CatchLog fields. Garmin may store and synchronize that activity according to your Garmin account and device settings. CatchLog does not send the activity to BIKINTULIS. Garmin's processing is governed by Garmin's privacy policy.

6. Data sent to BIKINTULIS

None from the watch app. CatchLog sends no catch, location, waypoint, activity, sensor, weather, setting, device identifier, Trial state, analytics or diagnostic data to BIKINTULIS.

7. Trial and Pro storage

Trial access ends after 24 elapsed hours from first launch. When it ends, local Trial data remains stored but app content is inaccessible behind the upgrade screen. CatchLog Trial and CatchLog Pro are separate Garmin apps, so Trial data does not transfer to Pro. A normal update preserves the Trial's first-launch time and history.

Uninstalling the Trial clears its local CatchLog history and may start a new offline Trial after reinstallation. Version 1.0.0 does not provide tamper-resistant clock-rollback protection and is not represented as enforcing Trial state across erased storage or another device.

8. The bikintulis.de website

The CatchLog presentation page is separate from the watch app and cannot read or modify its data. If you submit a review, comment or contact message, the website processes only the information you enter as described in the general website privacy policy. Visiting the page does not connect your watch or reveal your fishing spots to BIKINTULIS.

9. Retention, deletion and your rights

BIKINTULIS holds no server-side CatchLog record about you. Local CatchLog data remains in Garmin's per-app storage until entries are evicted by the rolling limit or the app/platform removes that storage, normally after uninstallation or a watch reset. Local waypoints and Garmin Connect activities are managed through Garmin's tools. Rights concerning website comments or contact messages are explained in the general privacy policy.

10. Accuracy and safety

GPS, weather, sensor, map and activity information can be unavailable, delayed or inaccurate. CatchLog is a personal logbook, not a source of legal, navigation or water-safety advice. Follow local licence requirements, closed seasons, minimum sizes, access rules and safety guidance.

11. Changes and contact

This policy may be updated before a version with different data handling is released. The date above identifies the latest version. Questions, requests or complaints can be sent through the contact form.
