Privacy Policy — RETRO

Last updated: 3 July 2026 · Applies to RETRO v1.0.0 and later.

This policy applies to the RETRO Garmin Connect IQ watch face, in both listings: the free RETRO Trial and the paid RETRO. They are the same face for privacy purposes and behave identically — neither collects anything. Other apps published by BIKINTULIS have their own policies — see the directory.

1. Who we are

BIKINTULIS is an independent developer of Garmin Connect IQ apps and watch faces. For questions about this policy, use the contact form.

2. Summary in plain language

  • RETRO runs entirely on your watch. It makes no network or web requests and talks to no server — there is no BIKINTULIS server involved.
  • It requests no permissions at all — no location, no GPS, no external sensors.
  • It displays a few fitness values Garmin already makes available to watch faces — heart rate, step count, elevation and battery — purely to show them on screen. These values are never stored by us and never sent anywhere.
  • It asks for no name, email or account, and contains no advertising or analytics.
  • The free Trial and the paid version are the same in every way described here.

3. Permissions this watch face requests

None. Both the free Trial and the paid RETRO ship with an empty permission set — the watch face does not request internet/communications, positioning, or any special sensor permission. The heart rate, steps, elevation and battery it shows are read through the standard information Garmin provides to every watch face on the device; reading them to display them needs no permission and moves no data off the watch.

4. Data stored locally on the watch

RETRO stores only your display settings in Garmin's per-app storage sandbox, accessible only to this watch face:

  • Language (which of the 11 languages the message, header and date use)
  • Message source (the daily rotating message, or your own custom text)
  • Custom text — if you choose to type your own message, that text is stored on the watch so it can be shown
  • Time format (follow the system / 24-hour / 12-hour)
  • Typewriter animation on or off

These settings stay on the watch, keep no history, and are removed when you uninstall the face. The heart rate, steps, elevation and battery values shown on the face are read live and displayed only — they are not written to storage.

5. Data sent to a server

None. RETRO has no networking code and contacts no server — nothing about you or your watch ever leaves the device, including any fitness value it displays. (A future version could add an optional cloud feature; if that ever happens, this policy will be updated before it ships and the change will be described here.)

6. What this watch face does NOT collect or send

  • No name, email address, phone number, postal address, or account credential.
  • No location or GPS data — RETRO does not read or transmit your position.
  • No transmission of heart-rate, activity, or sensor data — it displays these values on the watch and sends none of them anywhere.
  • No custom message text sent anywhere — anything you type stays on the watch.
  • No data sent to BIKINTULIS — there is no server contact whatsoever.
  • No advertising or analytics SDKs of any kind.

7. Garmin Connect & your Garmin account

The watch face runs inside Garmin's Connect IQ platform. Garmin's own collection and use of data is governed by Garmin's policy at garmin.com/privacy. BIKINTULIS has no access to your Garmin account, your activities, or anything synced to Garmin Connect. If you set your custom message from the Garmin Connect app's settings for this face, that text is passed by Garmin to the watch and stored only on the watch.

8. The bikintulis.de website

Separate from the watch face, when you use the bikintulis.de website itself:

  • If you leave a comment or review, your name, email, rating and comment text are stored. Your name, rating and comment are published publicly after moderation; your email is never published.
  • If you use the contact form, your name, email, subject and message are stored privately and used to reply to you. If you attach a photo or video (optional, up to 20 MB), it is stored on the BIKINTULIS server alongside the message and only viewable by the site owner via an authenticated admin panel. The attachment is deleted when the message is deleted.
  • Your IP address is stored only as a salted SHA-256 hash (rate-limiting / spam prevention). The raw IP is not retained.
  • Standard web-server access logs are kept up to 30 days.
  • No cookies, no third-party analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels.

9. Legal basis (GDPR)

Because the watch face collects and sends nothing to BIKINTULIS, the only personal data we process relates to the website: your consent (when you submit a comment or contact message) and legitimate interest (IP hashes and server logs, used solely to keep the site secure and operational).

10. Data retention

  • On the watch: your settings are kept until you uninstall the face. No server copy exists.
  • Website comments: retained while RETRO is listed on this site.
  • Contact messages: retained as long as needed to handle your enquiry, then deleted.
  • Server access logs: up to 30 days.

11. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct, or delete data we hold (this only ever concerns website comments/contact messages — the watch face holds nothing on our side), withdraw consent, object to processing, or lodge a complaint with your data-protection authority. To exercise any right, use the contact form — requests are answered within 30 days.

12. Security

  • The watch face makes no network connections, so there is no app-to-server traffic to secure.
  • Any traffic to the bikintulis.de website is over HTTPS.
  • No payment data is ever handled by BIKINTULIS.

13. Children

RETRO is a general-purpose watch face, is not directed at children under 13, and does not knowingly collect any data from them (indeed, it collects no personal data from anyone).

14. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated to reflect new features or legal requirements. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest change. Continued use after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
